Welcome to Fashion Flashback Files

If you’ve ever seen someone wearing parachute pants or a corset top and thought, “Wait, didn’t we do this already?” — you’re not wrong. Fashion is a never-ending loop of comebacks, remixes, and reinventions. Trends we thought were buried in the past are suddenly runway-approved.

But why does fashion keep coming back?

Honestly, that’s exactly what I’m here to explore.

🔁 The Style Cycle

Fashion has this magical way of recycling itself every 20 years or so. The ‘90s came back in the 2010s. Y2K is trending hard right now. And even 70s staples have been sneaking into high fashion and streetwear again.

Some may say it’s nostalgia or the need to bring a certain look back. Others might say it's the industry running out of ideas. I say it’s a bit of both — but also something deeper.

Clothes are culture, are part of our memories, and they help form our identity. Bringing back a trend isn’t just about aesthetics; it’s about reclaiming eras, remixing what worked, and rewriting what didn’t.

đŸ§” Why I Started Fashion Flashback Files

I’ve always loved the why behind the what when it comes to fashion. I am easily intrigued when I see someone wearing a look that reminds me of a past trend. But most importantly, I have always loved fashion. From the flapper era in the 20s, to the leather and red lipstick combo, to the 70s look with those iconic white high-knee boots, to the low-rise bell bottom jeans! And everything in between.

This blog is my little corner of the internet to do just that: Break down fashion trends by the decade, highlight the icons who rocked them first, and show how those same vibes are showing up today — in thrift stores, on TikTok, in your Instagram feed, maybe even in your closet.
